UPDATE
We launched the book at the beginning of the lockdown in April and the start of the Falklands War in 1982.
The surrender of Argentine Forces took place tomorrow the 12th of June 1982, and I would just like to thank all those who bought one of the books FALKLANDS WAR: SNIPERS DOWN SOUTH over the lockdown period, as we have now sold out.
We made a donation to both charities at the start and we make are final donation to both charities SAMA82 and the AIRBORNE ASSAULT MUSEUM at Duxford tomorrow.
Thanks guys book writing has been an interesting experience for both Frank and I.

John,
Thanks for that. Even now, a few typo's but thats to be expected. Even the best writers come across them when the books published.
I was glad to put to bed the "myth" that Snipers issued with L42's were chucking them away into streams, as it was disclosed in a book after the war, due to both scopes "misting up" and the working parts getting "gummed up with oil".................what a load of rollocks!!
The scopes were all heavily upgraded and watertighted before the war, and the gumming up of the working parts is down to the user if either had been true!!

Like you say Gil, "gumming up an Enfield action" ... What total and complete Rollocks!
What did they 'gum' it up with, quick drying cement mixed with steel pins??
Few other things would stop James Paris Lee's action from working as intended....

John,
Those comments came from a well known author who put it in one of his books. (non Military man)
I did challenge him personally about the statement before I wrote the book, which he alluded were Para's (which made my blood boil) who did it, and he couldn't remember where he had heard it or who told him...............yep rollocks I'm afraid, and now I've said it on here, as and when you come across it in the future, you will know the truth, as stated by ALL the snipers with L42A1 rifles in the war, including SAS/SBS/RM/GURKHAS/PARAS/WELSH GDS/SCOTS GDS who I interviewed.
"More than their lives are worth losing their issue sniper rifle"

We may be having a re-run in the New Year once this virus has been stabilised, as trying to post anything is hard work currently!

Have only graze read it this will make great reading when I finally put that hard hat away put my feet up an wade throught the books I have on this great weapon "The Lee Enfield"
From the small bits I have read its well put together and easy to read I am looking forward to it along with Steve Houghtons book they are well worth the money.
And besides it all goes to a worthy cause as at times I feel our Govts lose sight of of the young men who go away and come back broken
Thanks Gil a great book.

The surrender was taken this morning of all Argentinian Forces 14th June 1982, the day 38 years later we made our final donation to the South Atlantic Medal Association (SAMA82) and the Airborne Assault Museum this morning from the proceeds of the book.
Started selling the book on the first day of the war in April and sold out on the last day of the war....thanks to all who bought a copy again.
Stay Safe
