Repro wanna be T
Just a pic of a decent idea for a cheaper than T, T shooter, a Field (?) mount with windage and vertical adjustment with a no 42 artillary scope.
We had a thread on this recently, so this is just an extension of that, just for interest.

..a bit more
But...I didn't want to drill anymore holes in my rifle so I'm using the parker hale track and rings it came with.
I bore sighted a regular scope on it, got it zeroed, took the top off the rings without taking it off the rifle, took the scope out of the rings and dropped the 42 in it and it lines up exactly correct. (phew-if it didn't there's nothing to adjust except to get out the ol dremel and start shaping the ring bases.)
What about elevation I hear you ask? Miraculously the 42 has a range finder reticle and a small x dead center.
The end cap is turned brass I think, the rubber extension is about 2 inches long and doubles as weather seal as it has its own brass plug that fits neatly in the viewing hole. neat little extras.

excuse the repeat pics, I'm just trying to learn how this works.
It works, I can not only upload but got the reticle blown up too. I backed the camera up to 6 inches and then used the zoom to get closer to the scope and voila, a huge reticle image. The left side is about real size.
There's something really neat showed up in playing with this. I always spend a bit of time getting my head to scope distance just right, usually its a bit of an inexact thing, however this time is different...if I get the picture looking just right then go forward just another 1/4 inch then this nice black ring appears around the sight picture. It must be part of the lens restraints I think. In any case it shows nicely in the left side picture, especially around the upper left corner of the image. I wonder if no 32 's do this, I don't remember it. It makes a perfect sight picture and consistent eye placement very precise and repeatable too, nice.

So, what's the mount in the first picture? German? (Not my area of study, really)

I don't know, there seems to be more of them down unda than up over. I've heard the name Field associated with them and also a german makers name that I forget. There's no markings on them other than one or two numbers. They're really well made items, they should have a good market even these days.

Hi Rodger, First scope mounts look like the "Ajack"[German made] mounts than I mentioned to you in an earlier thread some have no markings on them except Nos
Stuart.

I like the look of that Ajack mount. I’d be very tempted to do the D&T as the gun already has a few extra holes. Have you had it to the range to see how it shoots and if it is zeroed?

This weekend I hope, everything's ready, just weather and range being open is all I need now...The scope is really excellent to look through, a bright picture, and the reticle is just right too, this will be very very interesting.
I've decided not to drill any more holes in this rifle so the mount is 4 sale on the site whose name we must not mention.
