    WANTED - No.5 rear sight

WANTED - complete 800yd. rear sight assembly for a No.5 MK1 rifle (jungle carbine). If you've seen my thread about my pawn shop carbine, you know it has a scope and I need a rear sight.

There's one on Gunbroker right now, but I can't tell if it's all there, I don't know what they're supposed to look like!

I'd also like to find a sling for it too.

    Thanks!

As much as I hate saying this keep an eye on ePay. They seem to come with alarming regularity

TheNo5 sight LOOK like a standard Mk1 sight (although there is a Mk2 version) that goes up to 800 yards. The difference is that while they are very similar, due to the slightly different ballistics and trajectory, the graduations differ slightly

Well, I've bid on this one. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=140797235 I hope it's the right one, or at least close. My concern is how does this sight mount to the ears on the receiver?

Looks like the right one to me ...

Do you have a pic of what hardware you have now and what you're mounting it on?

    Love the purple hue ...

    Regards,
    Badger

Yep, a No.5 MK1 jungle Carbine. All I have are the mounting ears, and zero knowledge of Enfields.

You need one that has all the parts including the battle sight ...

Look at the second auction which still has 3 days to run ...

Even with it, you still need the screw set up that goes laterally through the hole.

    Badger

Thank you! Now I have TWO bids floating around out there. But how do these sights mount to the ears?

OK, you mentioned a "screw setup that goes laterally through the hole". Where can I find one of those?

I don't have any good pics of this for you, but if you're going to start tinkering with it yourself, here's a Skennerton publication that may help …

LEE ENFIELD NO 5 JUNGLE CARBINE PARTS & ASSEMBLY BOOK (click here)

".303 RIFLE, NO. 5 MK I PARTS IDENTIFICATIONS & LISTS, NO. 5 SERIES NOTES, EXPLODED PARTS DRAWINGS, DESCRIPTIONS, ACCESSORIES & FITTINGS" by Ian Skennertonicon.

Mint soft cover book with 48 pages full of drawings of parts and actions, plus photos of rifles. Includes bayonets and accessories. The book provides a background history of the rifle and its development and use. Great reference book that covers codes, serial numbers and markings.

    Regards,
    Badger
