Iraqi Marked No. 1 Mk III* Value?
Just curious if an Iraqi contract LE No. 1 Mk III* is worth any more than a comparable LE from the same time / condition. I think the answer is no but I can't seem to find many for sale so I wasn't sure. The only one I did find that sold recently seemed to sell for a lot more than I would think they're worth hence my question.
I have a non-import marked 1936 BSA that, while mechanically solid, has almost no bluing left due to years spent in the desert. The rifle shoots great and has a great bore but does have a few mismatched serial number pieces. These parts were probably swapped while still in Iraqi service since the finish is the same across the entire rifle.
Thanks in advance for any help.

There has been one sitting unsold for $600 on gunboards for awhile now.

i've heard people opine that peacetime construction was to higher standards. i don't know if that is true or not. i'd still say condition is everything. i paid $400 for my iraqi copy. all matching except for the magazine, nice bore. i'd think $450 at the top end. i would not pay the $600 mentioned by capt14k. your mileage may vary...

Gents,
Thanks for the replies. I really didn't think it was worth a lot relative to a similar LE but didn't know.
I'd really like a WW I era British No. 1 Mk. III so had given considerations to possibly trading my Iraqi contract for one. I think, based on the above, I might be able to trade evenly or with a small amount of money on my end to make up the difference for a nice one.

I would agree with $450 being the one has sat unsold at $600. My guess is the seller would have taken $500 or more if offered. Being no one has that puts the value likely under $500.

I bought a nice one around 2005 for 300. I would say about 50% more seems about right.
