GB-IP Thread
The GB-IP topic was moved 'Because the example I wanted to share with you was found in a commercial auction'
Like many of you with our main interest being the M1-M2 carbines, I don't often frequent the auction/gossip forum, making it easy to miss this kind of information.
This brings me to ask all of you, no matter what your level of knowledge may be on Carbines:
If there were no link here on the M1-M2 Carbine forum for you to follow this topic over to the Commercial Auction and Sale 'Gossip" forum,
Would you have found the Carbine topics in the Commercial Auction and Sale 'Gossip' Forum?
I'm currently working on a Proposal to the Mil Surps Board and Panel Members.
Your answer to the question above will be greatly appreciated......
In your reply feel free to include any further thoughts or views to this matter.
Thank You,
Charlie-Painter777

I look at virtually every thread so I'd find it. Title is important to finding things. If it's clearly labelled for the M1/M2 then I'm sure the carbine fanatics will find it.

My interest on the forum is mainly the M1 Carbine, so I would not have found the GB-IP post otherwise. I get email notification of all new carbine forum posts, and this one caught my attention since I have an S'G' and wanted to compare parts, etc. I spent a lot of time analyzing that IP and picking out things that didn't look right. I did the same with the seller's presentation Inland which even included an evaluation and data sheet filled out by Larry Ruth, himself. All very interesting to me, including Charlie's note about looking at the bidding. Especially interesting to me, was seeing who those bidders had dealt with in past transactions. I watched both of those carbines until they were sold, and wish there had been some comments and discussion on the forum about them. I think threads and posts of this type offer the chance for us to further our education about the finer points of these guns, and help us from overpaying for one that might not be all that it's advertised as. I agree with Charlie's proposal for making some changes, and didn't even realize the thread had been moved. I subscribed to it the first day, and when I didn't get notice of any replies, it puzzled me that no one had. - Bob

Bob,
That Inland Presentation has had 3,257 views as I type this, on another carbine forum

I think it all depends on how you use the forum.
if you only visit the sub forum of choice you would miss it.
if you click on the "unread posts" in the top right corner (or top centre if viewing on a phone), it brings up everything new, you might still miss it but that depends on how you decide what to read and what not to.

Charlie, I do not visit the forum as often as years past. Seldom look at anything other than M1/M2 and would have missed it if not posted here. I thought the post was very interesting and thank you for posting it.

Would never have seen that forum unless the link wasn't still in the M1/M2 Carbine forum showing as moved. Now that I'm back here, I wouldn't know where that other forum is if I had to find it without the link.
