    ?????

    Swissicon Mauser???
    Swiss Schmidt-Rubin? Yes
    Swedishicon Mauser? Yes
    But Swiss Mauser?
    - Never seen such an animal.
(Although there were, for instance, some Swiss Mannlichers)

Could you perhaps clarify which rifle you mean?

---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 PM ----------

    Swiss Schmidt-Rubin or Swedish Mauser?

Both are excellent types of rifle, easily to be found in A1 condition, all matching, practically unused.

Can't help you with where as I'm on the other side of the country. How much is a bit tougher. My local gun shop has several of them at present and has sold some that I've taken notice of over the last year. Prices have been anywhere from about $325-$425. I can't say if that's good, bad or average. They have not been sold at the gun auction I go to. Seems like most of these have matching numbers. I can't say I ever saw one that didn't.

about 20 years ago when I bought mine Woolworth's department stores were selling them for $110.00. They were selling Britishicon Enfield's for $90 and Garands for $300. Got an Enfield, still kicking myself for not getting a Garandicon.

I was up North in Redding, Ca yesterday. I saw several in Jones Fort gunshop. They are around just start looking. You also need to get to the Seattle area gunshows. Gun luck.

Swedishicon M96 (long rifle 29" barrel) rifles all matching in good condition depending on year should be around $400.00
Swedish M38 (short rifle 23" barrel) rifles all matching in good condition depending on year should also be around $400.00
Swedish M94 (carbine 18" barrel) rifles all matching in good condition depending on year as high as $1800.00!!!!!!!!!!
In Canadaicon the M94's are very rare especially those that Bubba has not touched!
    Good luck with your search.

    Gernan made Swedes???

Is it a Swedishicon Mauser if it was made in Germanyicon under contract for the Swedes. Mine in the thread, First Mauser (Swedish) was made in 1899 at Orbendorf. Also does that add or take away from its worth.

Yes, the Swedes not only inspected the Oberndorf facilities in 1892, in the course of contract negotiations and type evalaution, they even provided steel for the barrels! And during 1895 a whole team of Swedish inspectors moved to Oberndorf for "On-the-spot" quality control. You may be sure that the Oberndorf quality was exactly the same as the later Carl Gustaf quality.

If you are interested in that sort of thing, you really need to get the Dana Jones book!

Over here, I have not noticed any obvious difference. Maybe a trifle more, but the condition of the individual rifle plays a bigger role. Quality is identical, and Oberndorf made enough that they can not be considered to be particulary rare.

I just bought one a week ago, it should be here tomorrow, I'm excited. If it's as nice as the pictures it should be okay. I think the stock looks very nice.
