Mint S'G'
Hello. This is my first post and I have a question. There is an S'G' being offered on Gun Broker and it appears to be in the SG serial block yet has an S'G' acceptance mark on the stock. Is this correct?

It's a split serial number block between SG/S'G'.
1st part were SG, 2nd part are S'G'.

There is a lot that doesn't smell right about this carbine.

Thanks painter! I have an S'G' # 3593229 with an SG acceptance mark on the stock. There is no doubt that this is legitimate due to the purchase circumstances. Do you happen to know what the "dividing line" might be?

Buy the gun not the story. This carbine is not correct. It does have a dog leg hammer but it is too early for the serial number. There are a couple of different parts that are not right.

I'm not sure if a exact dividing line has been found, Others may chime in with something close.
But the split serial number block started at the Saginaw Steering Gear Div in Saginaw, Michigan (SG) at 3,250,020 and later switched to the Saginaw Grand Rapids, Mi plant (S'G') ending at 3,651,519.
Welcome to the forum, but don't get to exicited about this particular carbine. It has issues.

I was typing when Bruce added his post so mine was kinda a repeat of his.

Can someone go into details about why this carbine isnt right? Isnt it within the realm possiblity for a Fat boy dog leg to be in this carbine originally?

I wonder why they don't show a picture of the bolt? Also noticed this is a higher s/n for an S'G' receiver than shown in Riesch's 6th edition. The seller's use of the term "mint" seems to include a certain amount of surface rust. - Bob
