8th Army Air Force and Pathfinder patch
In my small museum I have all of my Uncle's uniforms, from cadet to active duty. He was a B-17 bombardier with the 306th Bombardment Group (Heavy) out of Thurleigh, UK. Close to the end of WW2 in Europe, a few bombardiers from every group were sent to Alconbury to train with the H2X radar BTO (bomb through overcast).
The war ended before he returned to active duty, but this training authorized him to wear the Pathfinder patch on his right sleeve. My Uncle considered the official Pathfinder patch on the right sleeve "backwards", so he had a couple custom, reverse, patches made in a shop in the UK.
Considering that not many USAAF uniforms had this patch, I believe that this uniform is uncommon. I've not seen another, have you?
