    1954 CZ52 7.62x25 pistol acquisituion.

Picked this up to go with retro AKM build. A Commie rifle has to be paired with a Commie pistol!

A pristine Czechicon 1954 CZ52 in 7.62x25 Tokarev or 7.63 Mauser. I was in the shop on Saturday picking up my 1957 made Ruger MK 1 22 pistol, and and saw it., I could not make up my mind. Well, I went in to the shop today, after drooling over it all weekend (he is closed Sunday and Monday). We talked a little, and I ended up getting it for $480 +$25 CA DROS! He dropped it because it only had 350 rounds of ammo left for it. Besides the ammo, it came with two mags, cleaning rod, and excellent Czech holster.

Serial number is FK05802, and it has "rid" after the serial number, and "54" (year of manufacture, IIRC) on the other side by the crossed swords proof. Finish is 98%+ and the bore is excellent, with no pitting.

The ammo is lacquer coated with sealed primers, and a headstamp of Cyrillic letters that almost look like "cym" or maybe "aym" and a stamp of "53" under it. It is packed in square boxes, 250 rounds apiece, though one has only 100 rounds.

Great Caesars Ghost that's a lot of $$ for a CZ52 pistol.. Unless things have changed since I bought mine a year ago I only paid $225 for the pistol, holster, cleaning rod, 2 mags and 500rds of ammo.

Problem is that they are not on the California DOJ roster of approved firearms, and can not be imported into the state anymore. You have to find one grandfathered in before the list was in place, and then it has to be a person to person sale through a licensed dealer who also has the three or four California permits and licenses to legal sell and DROS (register) firearms. In the four years I have been back in California, it is the first one I have seen for sale here.

I got 350 rounds of ammo with it at that price. He was selling the ammo alone at $0.47 or $24/50 (retail) a round, so at that rate, the pistol, 2 mags, and holster was $320.

Did'nt realize ya'll had so many restrictions out there. Reading that makes me glad I'm in S.C.. Things are pretty laid back over here. Around here a CZ52 has to have all the extra goodies with it to fetch $200 on a good day. The guy I bought mine from had been trying to sell for a while at $350 with no bites. A mutual friend put us in touch and I offered $225 sight unseen if he delivered it. I reckon he was happy to unload it because he drove 110 miles round trip to bring it to me. That don't happen often, it's usually the other way round.
BTW, get a good aftermarket steel firing pin to keep on hand as a replacement for when the cast OEM pin fails. Some surplus ammo is notorious for having primers that are hard as woodpecker lips so the original cast pins have a high failure rate.

With milsurp ammo I agree, even if you missed an unsuspecting opponent with the bullet you're still likely to scare the poor bugger to death. With PRVI ammo they're quite tame though.

Especially with the Czechicon ammo. Almost US .30 Carbine, but in a pistol.

Haha! It came with 400 rounds (I thought it was 350, but it was 400) of Czechicon "aym" ammo. That stuff is supposed to be 1700+ fps from the pistol. I'd love to pick up some more!
