Building my Arisaka book collection
Just got Japanese Rifles of WWII by Duncan O. MCCollum. Purchased it through Borders.
It is a great book for those just starting and a good reference book to take with you at an auction if you can not memorize series marks, remember the arsenals, etc.

Indeed, a very good book.
'Military Rifles of Japan' by Fred Honeycutt expands on the info in McCollums book. MROJ is generally considered the bible on Imperial Japanese rifles.

$18 for the first one, $250 for the second one. I'll go with the first one. I will keep a sharp eye out for the second one at my local gun auction. No one pays much for the books.

$250? You can buy the newest edition of MRoJ for $50 from the author.

Fred Honeycutt was reportedly a bit upset that his book was selling for USD$250 on Amazon, so he put up his own website, where his book can be bought.

I ordered my MROJ from Fred H. via the gunboards listing. I asked for him to sign it. I had both the book and signature in about a week.
The T99 book edited Don Voight and Doss White is useful and affordable as well. They, and the book, can be found on gunboards also.
The T38 book by Frank Allen is reported to be outstanding but I have yet to buy one. Super nice guy too.
