    03 stock id.

I believe it might be a type 2c "s" stock ? It has radius cuts down rear of the breech behind the gas vent hole. Lightning cuts are close to correct length but all four are same width. G between last lightning cut and sight channel. D in front of mag. well. K at 2 o'clock above cleaning rod hole, and A R at bottom of butt. No finger grooves, no cartouche . Has a proof mark but it's a P inside a square. Any idea what i have , who made it or when it was made.

I guess the radius cuts would make it a type 2b

I believe you are referring to the "type" designations featured in Joe Poyer's M1903 book. They have no basis in fact, except by Mr. Poyer. He admits this in his introduction.

Is the small of the stock "straight", a full pistol grip, or a partial one? From your description (and lack of grasping grooves), the stock appears to be WWII-built. The "P in a square" indicates the rifle the stock was mounted was inspected or overhauled during WWII at Red River or San Antonio arsenals.

If you can post some pictures, that would be helpful.
