Who is "K"?
I have a 1917 purchased at a gun show not long ago. It has a Johnson Automatics barrel and the bolt is stamped with a "K". Does this stand for Kingsbury?

At first I thought it was a poorly stamped "R", but it is in fact a clean "K"

I like those bolts. WWII replacement and made of high quality steel. Not made of Nickel Steel. It runs right in a Nickel Steel M1917 receiver. Nice find.

Chuck: I think you are correct. The WWI bolt and receiver are 3 1/2% nickel steel and run "sticky" in the gun. The WWII bolt cures that problem. Oddly, no one ever talks about that.

USMC K , and S bolts are all 8620 bolts, and work great in the 17,s.
