"Ghost" rollmark on DWM "Boer" Mauser

I recently got a new camera with much higher resolution, so took some shots of a couple of my milsurps, including my OVS Mauser, including the factory rollmark on the left hand side of the receiver.

While fiddling around in the editing program, I zoomed in to see how the resolution from the new camera held up, and it revealed a ghost, lightly "struck" rollmark visible below the main one.

The picture doesn't show it, but the whole line from "Deutsche" to "...fabriken" is repeated. Not something I'd seen before (nor looked for, to be honest). Just thought I'd share.

The initial set up for the roll die may have been off, or the receiver may have moved before the die was applied.

Higher resolution is not nearly as important to making good photographs as lighting and technique.

They usually split the inscription after the "und" to leave enough space for cutting the thumb recess (dunno if that is proper English - I ment the recess that was being done to allow the soldier to press the ammo into the magazine from the clip). Compare it with different DWM manufactured models, you'll see it yourself.

Could've also been that someone closed that recess as the reciever is everywhere of the same thickness; usually those DWM had thicker fronts.
