Found something neat
I know that none of this is by no means rare, but i was digging through an old box of assorted junk on my reloading bench and this is some of what i found. One of the .30-06 rounds i know was brought home from france by my grandfather when he left in 1919. He handed it to me when i was a kid. The other rounds I thought were neat.

Did your grandfather also bring back the PD ammo? Wish I had boxes like these!

He did not. I wish. I have a Mark I, so it is cool to see what it was meant to use.

One of my favorite "pastimes" before ammo started to go up in price, was to buy a baggies of ammo at a gunshow for a few dollars - 30-06 and .45. It would provide an evening of entertainment going through it. A good share was junk or "shootable", but I used to find some interesting stuff. In one batch, I found several 1918 cartridges an a few very early 30-06 from Frankford Arsenal.

I knew what i had wasn't that rare, but what a piece of history. Thanks for all the other pics. Just wish i could find that un-altered 03 someday.

I agree, not that rare, but fun to look at - and ammo takes up relatively little room.
