Model 12 Winchester help
I bought a good book at the flea market today "The American Shotgun" by David Butler. Reading about the Model 12, I got the impression that guns with solid ribs were trap guns. My question: I have a 1934 model 12, 12ga full choke with a solid rib with two sight beads. The wood is field style. I've had it for years and it is the best shooting shotgun I've ever owned. Are the solid rib guns really trap models or are they just another option? Thanks for any help.

It could be either or. Back in Winchesters heyday a customer could get a gun made however they wanted it. Even if there was a part or option Winchester didn't normally offer just send them a drawing and they'd make it.
