Rick,
I never noticed that....when I went over the pictures you sent. I glanced at that spot and thought it was light pitting from rust. That mag catch and wondering if that safety was a type II or III must have thrown me off.
I apoligize for missing it.
No idea what it's designed for.

M1 carbine parts I received a few days ago and we noticed that the magazine well on this Inland TH was about 3/4" longer than that of a normal TH magazine well. (see picture - "normal" magazine well is on mounted rifle) After a (yet) closer look, there was some definite weld marks, . . .
You know that there's a matching rewelded receiver out there somewhere with a similarly crappy weld job.
FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.

Good point !! I'd just like to know for what caliber cartridge it was modified!!
