    Recently snagged this at an on-line estate sale. Excuse the picture quality--these are from the auction site. I'll try to post better ones when it arrives.

    Very nice looking rifle, excellent find! I really like the wood. Does it have an early 1918 barrel date?

    Not sure about the barrel markings.

    That is one of the issues with purchasing at these on-line estate sales--you pretty much have to go on what the pictures show and what the description indicates.

    I'll know more when it actually arrives and will post better pics and a better description.

    I got a chance to make a quick trip to the range.

    Here is a pic of the "4" on the tip of the stock


    And a pic of a target that I shot . Federal Powershok 180 grainers @ 100 yards.



    Eh..not that bad, but I have rifles that do better. I probably need to experiment with some other ammo, although most of my other 1917's seem to do well with the heavier bullets
