OD Paint on a M1917 scabbard
My M1917 bayonet scabbard has was painted OD sometime in the distant past. Was this done in WWI or WWII? Dosen't really matter to me but I was curious. Thanks in advance.

The leather came painted OD from the factory. But some have been repainted. And some have also had the metal throat painted OD during refurb.

Hey Kevin,
Am no expert but have done a lot of research on M1917 bayonets and scabbards. The leather was originally painted green, as in grass green and not OD. That paint was put on after WWI, probably in early WWII.
