Lightbulb A.G. and A.J. Parker and Parker-Hale Service Rifle Target Sights

With thanks to MILSURPS.COM member, Oatmeal Savage.....

He found an excellent link to the U.K. National Rifle Association Historic Arms Resource Centre (click here). One of the topics covered in detail is a very detailed set of articles, pictures and operating instructions on all of their various models of sights, as illustrated in their catalogues over 60 years ~ 1920 to 1980.

Details of the various rifle sights and adapters made by A.G. and A.J. Parker and Parker-Hale Service Rifle Target Sights (click here)

Accordingly, we have updated various MKLicon entries with this information.

    Regards,
    Badger

I've been watching some E-Bay auctions trying to get one for doing a little precession shooting. Boy, they can get truly expensive. I just have to keep looking-SDH

parker hale sights for SMLE #4

SARCO has some parker hales listed on their web site for the No.4 Mk1. They have some P-H globe fronts, also.

If anyone collects these Parker and Parker-Hale sights they ought to be advised that what the thread showing them doesn't mention or illustrate is the sheer variety and detail of the variations within each sub group such as the 5's! There are tens of sub variants including quick release plungers, plunger at the front or rear, anti backlash balls, coarse or fine lead screw threads, square or dovetail type cursor arms......... I could go on and on! And let's not forget the 1/8" BSF thumbscrew thread....., a thread that I didn't even recognise as existing! There's 5's, 5C's, D's and the 5CD version too....., phew!

They are now expensive but they were expensive when they were being produced. This is reflected in the even more expensive price now. But they ain't makin' no more.

When DCRA shooting back in the early 60's I paid $25.00 for my Parker Hale 5c from S. I. Robinson in Winnipeg. That was alot of money for me in those days, should have bought many more...no should have bought IBM stock.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
