L2a3 Mk4
So i wanted to share some picture's of my Mk4 old-spec deactivated deco piece.
Loving it, and it made me search for stuff around it.
First i obtained the God book
It is one of the only books that really interested me.
The smg according to serial is from the 60's and still has allot of it's original finish.
It has a bayonet like you see on the god book's front cover in NOS condition i would say.
Double stacked mag, and 10 rounder.
Also got the BFA (wich i repainted yellow) (might do it over one day)
''anyone ever seen one ?''
It say's Sterling 9mm and on the other side a serial.. with original long barrel bolts.
Apart from the double mag pouch, what else is there to collect ?

The little tin containing the cleaning kit? The foresight cramp? But in reality, while the foresight cramp worked, it was a waste of space. You can get the Infantry user handbook, EMER and parts list from Brian at BDL Ltd in SC. Any other collectables that anyone can think of?
The black handled bayonet is a commercial one, made up using a mix and match of Sterling crosspiece and pommel with L1A1 rifle grips and blade. The original 60's bayonet was a wooden handles one, grips retained with screws and nuts in holes spaced slightly differently. But once again....., as they say, if you need a bayonet on a SMG, then you REALLY do need a bayonet!

Hi there Peter,
Thank you so much for your reply, it's a honor..
I really love your books (as i got the Sten version of it aswell)
''Guess what's next ''
I actually forgot to post a few other things in the picture.
Having a cleaning kit, but i think it's for a rifle version...'' ? forgot the name''
It's not a tin box, but green plasic..
A scope rail, but that's also more a 80's item.
Deff need to find a Tin box (i believe there was one on ebay not so long ago) Tin box with SMG written on it.
Clamp tool for foresight, deff need to find one of those.
Have some other manuals aswell ''User handbook for the ... etc..''
Original with the staples in them.
And ofc the DvD from AGI ^^.
Also have a wooden grip bayonet Jungle n05 (but it's for the rifle) W.S.C. Wilkinson sword company.
Yup, would need to find the sterling version of it
Any more info on the BFA i have ?
Havn't seen many of them, if non at all.
Still want a 15 round magazine i guess, and people spoke about something rubber ? (a rubber protecting cap or some sort)
Your book inspired me allot, and made me interested in it..
Got the British & Commonwealth bayonets book aswell ''Skennerton''l)
Thank you,
best regards.

Also very rare to encounter. Is the Commercial Barrel removal Tool. This one I own, is the only one I have ever seen!

That is the rubber snow cap, to prevent snow and other crud getting into the barrel. If you want to preserve that rubber snow cap, might I siggest that you NEVER, ever, never pull it over the bayonet standard mount because it will stretch and after a few times, it'll snap as sure as god made little green apples. Keep it covered in talcum powder and in a dark bag. The plastic cleaning kit was also used extensively for our SMG's but we didn't have any magazines other than the 34 rounders in the Army although the shorter ones were listed in the 'special requirement stores list' along with other things only available to those with a special operational requirement for such stuff.
The BFA's were rarely used. I only ever saw them being used once when making a recruiting video. But they stood out like sore thumbs so the guns were changed to have interior BFA's screwed into the barrel. As a result, these guns were kept strictly apart and chained up separately for the duration of the filming! The BFA's used to clog up too causing the guns to blow-back like buggery!!!!!
I'm sure Tankie will agree that we never had a barrel removing tool issued because it was quicker to just tap the muzzle end with a brass drift or tap one of the loose barrel screws. Pl;ease get the No5 bayonet handle part bead blasted, phosphated and painted properly............

From the geometry of the butt and the strange configuration of the ejection opening port area I think that it is a repro/replica.
