    Question 1945 mark4n1* MP

    Hi
I have a 1945 mark4no1* that I've owned for over forty years, but was unaware of the significance of the MP on the side until a retired rcmp friend informed me.
    The s/n is 83L5329
I would like to know if this s/n is on any of your lists.
    thanks

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Have you checked the MKLicon?

There's examples of "MP" (Mounted Police) No.4's complete with photo pictorials of both 1941 and 1942 Long Branch rifles in the Knowledge Librariesicon.

Specifically, check out the entry in the Canada - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here).

1942/43/44 RCMP No.4 Mk1* Long Branch Rifles (click here) .....

I don't see that specific serial number on the Crown Assets Disposal invoice shown in the article, but that's not to say it wasn't sold separately.

    Regards,
    Doug

    Thanks Wheaty
I think the rifle was sold to a serving member who won the lottery when they were being
    phased out.
