Best Book about 1903/03A3's?
I'm interested in buying a book about 1903's and 03A3's. I would like it to cover the history, variations and identification of proof marks, cartouches, etc.
Anyone have an opinion on the best book for what I am looking for?
Thanks, Steve

My vote is for Clark Campbell's "The '03 Springfield Era" (2003 Revision). I believe you can order it through Scott Duff.
Bill Brophy's book is also good but is a little old at this point plus you can log on to Amazon and search the text for free.
For basic care and feeding i would also get a copy of TM 9 1270 Ordnance Maintenance .. it covers all the rifles and has some little nuggets of information in the text. The pictures in the original govt. printings are best but usable reprints are available for not too much.
Regards,
Jim

Don't forget Mr. Canfield's book on the '03. It is better in many respects than either Brophy or Campbell. I have all three plus several more.

After looking at the replies and doing a bit of shopping, I decided on Canfield's An Illustrated Guide to the '03 Springfield Service Rifle
Amazon.com: An Illustrated Guide to the '03 Springfield Service Rifle (9781931464154): Bruce N. Canfield: Books
Thanks for all the replies.
