No32Mk3 reticle querie

Hello everyone

Is the cross wire in the reticle supposed to be attached to the vertical post? I don't know exactly how a chap can tell. I can't tell - I've never seen movement in the cross wire at any time HOWEVER a gun dealer told me, just today, that this has occurred and will result in a "Significant reduction in value".

There is a potential trade opportunity with this dealer and now I have alarm bells going off inside my head. Can anyone lend some advice?

I am under the impression that they are two separate and independent components in the scope.

Both are soldered to the same brass block.

Surpmil is right. The grat and crosswire are attached to the same diaphragm block and actually touch but while it might touch (otherwise you'll get parallax) the cross wire is NOT attached to the post.

bs ... run far away, unless he's offering you someone else's rifle 'at a significant reduction in value', lol.

the significant costs in a no32 rebuild are in the lenses and the labor, if I hazard an educated guess, while the most obvious problems that can't be lived with for a while are things like having the grease dry up and having frozen turrets. If the reticles got such a small issue, I'd not be sweating it, nor be reducing the sale price.

I might be all wrong, but thats my 2 cents worth if it was me.

Good advice there RJW. If he's reducing the price TO you because of it, then get it. If he's reducing the price FROM you, then avoid him like the plague. The grat and crosswire are on the same focal plane but sometimes, they might not be because one is slightly ahead or behind the other. It only takes a thou or so for one to look out of focus but so long as it's the grat post that's in focus, that's all that really matters........
