Looking for info on BAR Belt
Hi all:
I have a BAR belt, six pockets, all for the 20 round mags (no 1911 or 1903 pockets, metal cup, etc), and wondering if it's original or repro or what.
I've had it for at least 10 years. Don't remember where it came from. Possibly came in a box of other stuff I bought. Anyway...
Trying to get an idea of origina/repro, and a value range.
It looks like a mix of khaki and OD (or just faded unevenly?).
Each side has some markings on the back.
Each three pocket pouch piece is marke "L.C.C & Co. 9-18 Rifleman's Left", and the other the same except "Right".
The Webbing on the back (with the loops for the belt that connects them) is marked "AVERY".
I tried to upload pix. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Made by L.C.Chase and company. I think it's real alright. Third assistant or rifleman's belt I think. I'm sure someone else will be along momentarily to confirm this.

Interesting, one side by LC Chase and the other by Long...I guess it doesn't matter but which marking has the cup. The Long I'll bet?

BAR belt
The LONG 7-18 has the cup, the other two photos are NOT the BAR belt, they were posted by mistake

Thanks for the replies.
Anyone got an idea of value?
My brother does WWII reneactments and has a couple of guys with BAR's in his group. I'm thinking of offering it up to one of them. I'd like to get an idea of retail so I can give him a discount off that retail to make it interesting and fair (not looking gouge my brother's pal).
Thanks again.
BTW - I do like that earlier belt with the metail cup, but seems like if they had a sling, GI's would prefer the ability to carry more ammo, no?

BAR Belt
Your BAR belt appears to be modified to the M1937 style BAR belt. The original wide buckles removed and wide loops attached to the back to accomodate a narrower belt. The two front pouches on the right side are different than the rear....rounded flaps vs pointed flaps. It is possible that the Cup and M1911 mag pouches were removed and replaced with BAR mag pouches...which was common. WWI period BAR belts I've seen sell for up to $150. I think that your belt, with the possible modifications, may be valued less than that. Look on Ebay for "BAR belt"; "Cartridge Belt" "Browning Automatic Rifle" or other key words and see waht the belts have actually sold for. That is the best way to come up with a price. Good Luck.

I can remember wading thru piles of BAR belts in surplus stores and thinking "way too common, I'll buy one later". Famous last words....

You should have seen the surplus stores on First St in Seattle in 1974...hip deep in all that stuff. You couldn't give it away.

Sorry to hijack this thread!! but RCS could you please post a picture of the other side of your BAR belt? I have a similar one, and on the left hand side there seems to have been a hook or something, that has broken off!
