    LB No. 4 finish?

Hello to all you fans of the S.M.L.E. family. This is my first post here. My quest for knowlege is two fold, I just found a LB 1945 with a nice although new looking park type finish. The stock is almost new looking as well, should I smell something fishy here or can one still find guns in this shape? Secondly, this gun has no number on the stock, I have a No. 5 with no stock number but it looks to be original to the gun. Should I have stock numbers on my gun or are they not always present? Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

Many wartime Long Branch rifles went back to Canadianicon Arsenals Ltd. for FTR post WWII. The finish used after 1950 was Parkerizing. It's distinct manganese and is a dark grey-green color. Your rifle may be one of these.

And some have stocks stamped with rifle serial, some not.

My 9/46 No5 has no stock markings. My 12/46 has the SN stamped into the lower forestock.
