Walther PP flap holster
I have a Walther PP pigskin holster finished black on the outside. The interesting thing is, on the back, a mark has been Xed out. Looking close, appears to be an eagle, but not sure. The only marks on German gear that are obliterated, from my experience, are Nazi markings. Anyone familiar with this? Could holster be WW11 German, used postwar by a police force somewhere? Thanks, Bob

May have been a WaffenAmpt eagle = maybe used post-war: difficult to say more without a photo!

PP holster marking
I'm sorry Sadler, but I can't do pics. There are four Xes overstamped and overlapped somewhat(XXXX) and measure 5/16 tall. It's a rather large mark. I was hoping someone had run across a similar holster and had more info on it. Thanks, Bob

It sounds like a wartime holster, being pigskin, But it is Very Unlikely that the markings were X'd out by a post war European user. Not a lot of that stuff got used in the post war years and what did was appearently not fooled with. The reason I say that is that items such as yours are almost totaly unknown. It it had been the practice of some govt then there would have been a lot show up in later years on the surpluss market when they went to other weapons or different leather.
