    Carbine ammo suppliers

I opened one of my cases of brass today and found some odd ( to me ) head stamps. Along with the usual WCC and LC, there are some EC 43 and PC 43 marked brass. Who made these?
    Thanks

I found this site very helpful in identifying the oddball headstamps I come across sometime...

Headstamp Codes on Small Arms Ammunition

I think yours would be Evansville Ordnance Plant (Chrysler), Evansville, OH and Peters Cartridge Company, Cincinnati, OH plus year codes if I am reading the reference correctly....

Thanks TR, for the prompt reply and the link. I found several thousand carbine hulls in my basement storage area and started to deprime some. Also found lots of .45 ACP brass. It was a good day.

    jdavison,

The "EC 43" marked cases should be steel and not brass. Suggest you take a pass on reloading those.

Actually, all of the cases are brass. I have some steel cases in my collection that are loaded. Thanks for the link Skip. Now I know what the cases with the pointed bullets are for.

EC43 should be Brass! EC44 should be steel......
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

Ed, my anti-virus software several days ago balked at going to Headstamp Codes on Small Arms Ammunition
It was listed as a "bad-guy" sort of site installing really bad stuff on a PC for later use.
Have you had any problems with it?

    Anyone else?

    Phil

My anti-virus wouldn't let me go there either. Put up a big red flag.

Phil/Denny, I just went there again with McAfee and did a check with the McAfee Site Advisor. It says its good. It does show it has an online affiliation with PayPal, but it shows as testing as good. guess I will be running a full scan tonight just to make sure.

I have been using that site for quite a while now with my reloading. Hope I didn't send anyone to a bad sight!

    Thanks for the concern.

    Ed
