    SARCO 1903 a3

I have just recieved a SARCO 1903 A3. It's assembled in house by SARCO. I purchased the Model with their new C stock already installed. There is no eveidennce of this being a reclaimed drill rifle receiver there are no signs of spot welds being removed anywhere. Luck of the draw wise I'm pretty happy with what I got it's a Smith Corona receiver and a new 4 groove GI barrel. Other than the reciever the rest of the parts look to be Remington. Over all it looks like a brand new rifle with the new stock. It shoots very well so far mechanical zero on the rear sight windage was spot on. I would like some advice on what is a good distance to zero the sights in using HXP 30.06 without going all the way out to 200 yards. Also everything else being equal what is the premeium for a Smith Corona Reciever vs a Remington?

Welcome! I'm sure everyone would love to see photos of your new prize, especially if it is not a reclaimed drill rifle, as you say. Photos of the cut-off area and the bottom of the receiver where the barrel meets would be great.

Sarco sells a lot of aftermarket parts (trigger guards, upper and lower bands, stacking swivel band, lower band springs, front sight blades, pins, springs, to name a few), it would be surprising if you had all USGI. How is the bolt marked?

I've heard about 2-groove barrels being re-cut into 4-groove. What is the date on your barrel?

I don't think there is a premium on the receiver being a SC, since the rifle has been rebuilt from parts.
