Carbine Stamp ??

Anyone tell me what this stands for ?? The stock is also stamped with numbers on the left side. It's an IBM imported by CAI. Thanks, BB

Welcome to the forum BB, I can't quite make out the stamp on the heel of the reciever. See NR but not the last two, camara flash. I have a carbine that came back from Israel that has stamp simular to the one on your recoil plate. I'll get a pic of it later. Lets see what others have to say.

I believe it is NR and below that KART . Someone ground off what ever was after NR . Thanks, BB

KART is for the Coastal Artillery in Norway. That is where you carbine was imported from by Century Arms International. ( CAI )

Do the numbers on the LH side of the stock match the s/n on the receiver? If not, maybe CAI swapped out the stock. On my CAI imported IBM bought about a year ago, the numbers on the box, receiver, and stock all match. I wanted to swap stocks with an Inland at the time, but the store manager (Big5) said they had to be kept together with the action. - Bob

Thanks Bruce. I will also check the stock which looks kinda beat up. I traded for it at a local gun shop. 20 boxes of 9mm and a half a case of 7.62X39. He's a friend and needed ammo ,[was out].While I was there a guy bought 20 of the boxes of 7.62 for $12 / box. The 9mm was going quick at $25 /box. So he's happy and I am also , BB

Is that a 2 digit SN? I would say that is a rare Norwegian Carbine......has anyone else ever seen one?I have a K98 KART that is considered rare. You will never see anymore imported anywhere as the Green Party passed legislation back in the 90's banning export of weapons. Here is my K98. Regards, Rick.

I don't think so but that is the first one I have ever seen. My Norwegian Mausers are marked and match all the Nazi SN's but the Norwegians applied their own SN to the rifle and added the branch of service to which it was assigned. The rifles were converted to 30-'06 and the barrels so marked. The bolts and butt plates have been force matched to the Norwegian SN but no numbers applied to the stocks. I wished gunbb would post some more pictures of his carbine. It looks like someone ground off the Norwegian SN which looks to me was a 2 digit number. Other agencies that were issued the K98's were FLYs(Air Force), HAER(Army), Politi(Police, KNM(Navy) and NSB....... Norges Statsbaner (Norwegian State Railway).....the railroad still carries a K98 in the engine compartment to dispatch crippled animals.
I am good friends with a Norwegian that is an expert on these and will call him. Regards, Rick.
