    Winchester Carbine barrel on GB

Hi Guys! I only have 1 USGI Carbine, Inland 1-45, but have been looking to acquire a Rockola, IBM or Winchester. Anyway, while looking for my next acquistion I see a Winchester Carbine barrel for sale on GB. I don't know that much about carbines but this one seems suspect. It has WRA stamped on the barrel with 1-43 stamped vertically on the barrel too. I have only seen W stamped on Winchester barrels but hey, thats why I'm asking here. GB Auction # 387223973 if any of you have the time to take a look. I don't know how to post links here, sorry. Thanks for any opinion on this auction.

    My $0.02

I am not an expert but I believe this is a real Winchester barrel that has seen some external wear and has been re-parked, or maybe coated with something. IMHO it is not new or unused. The muzzle looks pretty good if it hasn't been peened. MW is minimal if a cabine round sticks out that far. I am a little concerned about "Will need headspacing." because you don't know if it is short chambered or long chambered, or if he doesn't know what he is talking about, - but there is a 3-day return offer which is good if it desn't index and headspace on your receiver. If I had an early re-parked Win receiver I might make a pass at it if the price didn't go too high. FWIW. ChipS

It's a standard early Winchester barrel. Winchester dated and stamped their barrels like this through Feb.1943. After that it was the standard WP proof stamp or just a P on the barrel. They did keep the ordnance bomb stamp on the gas cylinder. This barrel is used. It has been refinished and if you look at the chamber area you can see the new finish is in the chamber. A new barrel would have a bight chamber. BUT it is an early hard to find barrel which would work for a restoration or replace one that is import stamped. It is not new old stock for sure.

Expect it to go high. Early Winchester barrels like that are very hard to find.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
