Scoping an AR
I've got a Colt H-Bar I'd like to put a scope on. I'd like to be able to use the open sights too, so a carry handle mount looks like the ticket. Any of you using a scope mounted on the handle? Does it sit too high to be used comfortably, or is that a problem? Will a buttstock cheekpiece be needed with it? TIA

I assume the HBAR is a flattop w/ a removable carrying handle?
If your objective is to have a field-expedient backup, go ahead and adjust the iron peep appropriately then remove it/the carrying handle to mount the scope directly to the Picatinny rail and get it as low as possible.
My experience is that I can go back & forth from the scope to remounting the carrying handle, and back again, without being more than an MOA off.
