It looks like the whole thing was just butchered. Can't imagine why it would be done that way. If it was cut by factory, it will be marked on the side of the tang or the spine of the handle. Three letter code? UFH maybe? Doesn't really matter, it's hard put now.

That's a shame. It's hard to tell from the angle of the photo, but is there enough left to try to have it shaped so that it at least appears a correct cut?
I took some photos of two with bowie cuts and the ordinance markings if it will help.

to the end of the tip its just a smidgin over 10 1/4 and to the end of the fuller is 10 inchs. so maybe. i had though about going with a spear point, but i didnt know if this was an original chop job.

good luck , as stated its 'not' an E1 its a broke one , as is the scabbard , i wish you luck salvaging the blade its a really nice one , as to the scabbard - they were shortened at the other end and that well defined indent on each side of the metal disappeared when the M3 became the M3A1 cutdown to M7 length
