Are you trying to remove the hinge bolt? Use some penatrating oil on threads and let sit over night and use a screwdriver that fits the slot "tight". Gunsmith bits are best, hollow ground, they hold better with less slipping. Good luck.

shadycon has it right. Gunsmith srew drivers are a must for working on rifles and pistols. Hold it or put it in something solid. Use lots of WD40 or the like, then a little back and forth on the srew until it starts. More oil and repeat back and forth. I would do it over and over. It will loosen up. Takes time so be patient.....Frank

Thank you very much from your advices. Is this gunsmith screw driver different than normal tool? If so, i would like to buy it somewhere.
When i bought my M1A1 (early model in 1943) carbine, this long bolt head wasn't perfect shape. If anyone would know, where i can find original spare part screw for it, it would be great. I have thought to replace this screw with "new" original one. Northridge has those bolts, but they are quite pricey...near over $80.

Gunsmith screwdrivers; Wallmart sells cheap so called sets around $10.00. It consists of a handle and removable hollow ground bits.It is so-so but better than normal flat screwdrivers. A good set cost around $80.00. You can check with L&S Supply for a replacement screw. They list at $15.00. 651-773-9972. GK
