They are prohib. here, as an AK variant. Consequently if you had one, you coudn't take it to a range. Aren't a lot of the "Dragonovs" being some in the US these days actually commercial look a likes?

From what I gather, alot of them are Yugo M76 "dragunovs" which if memory serves are actually AK's with dragunov furniture, but I stand to be corrected.

Hum, this does indeed dim the light a bit. I'll have to find a little reading material and follow up, M.T.-SDH

re svd
I owned both an SVD and a FPK as for accuracy mediocre at best this was with home rolled ammo, the FPK shouldered better, a better stock design, the real majordrawback to both these rifles were that the extractor chewed up your brass pretty darn quick you were lucky if you could reload twice, the FPK had a bore diameter of .310 so I used 303 bullets and the SVD was a true .308. Do not know of prices in the states but the real macoy SVD is going to set you back quite a few dollars and a FPK was around 2K the last time I checked. In Canada these are considered AK variants so shes a prohib. Once again not my go to rifle, but was one of the coolest looking rifles I owned. Alas I cannot afford cool anymore so off they went.
