Fortunately I have found the missing parts, and were able to move on to other pressing issues with the rifle. I am working on the headspace, truing it up.
The Arisaka book has helped me a lot figuring out the correct parts. It's difficult to find a model 38 rifle with a intact mum, that has seen the battlefield.
Most receivers are defaced, stamped over, ruined, used for schools, etc., but this one is pristine, nothing but the original factory markings. Best of all is it is a model 38 from the 1930's, It's made by the Japan government, under strict building requirement assuring a quality rifle, A safe rifle, once it has been restored.

Very carefully. Restoration is coming along.

Are you setting the barrel back by one turn and recutting the chamber? Or two turns? That would be ambitious.

It's all done, the headspace is exact. The military rifles are so much better built. It takes a beating and still delivers a accurate rifle. Restoration of the model 38 is easier to accomplish since the rifle was built before WWII.
The 25th series Kokura Arsenal Arisaka Type 38 serial 00451 is awesome to work on, A better rifle than the 99. Finding one that is not disfigured, re stamped, a POS, is hard to locate. This one that I am restoring is/was missing parts that I was able to find.
One part that is been very difficult to find is the safety. Anyone has a late 38 safety I'm looking for one.

All of the firearms in my armory are 100% correct. Every firearm headspace is right on, you can grab any of them and they are ready to shoot. I have 60+ firearms every one of them has been restored perfectly.

I have a safety that I doubt it's for a model 38. Can someone please help identify what safety this belongs to????? I purchased it without looking at the photos, now I am looking at the photos and I am like WTF?

I guess the Japanese 38 is unpopular, I will have to move on and find others who can help me. Thanks.
