Serial Number & Barrel Date Question
I have an Inland receiver with a serial number of 6,299,767 and by my calculation I would need a barrel with an April of 45 date to go with it. Can anyone verify that or tell me if I am wrong. The only way I know to come up with the date is to take the production charts and the serial number blocks and do the math. If there is an easy to use resource for this I would love to hear about it. Thanks!
Mike

I have a original Inland, serial no. of 6243XXX, that has a 10-44 barrel on it. I am very sure it is the original barrel. I believe that this inland was probably made in late October or early November.
Your inland was probably made in either December or January. Therefore your barrel should probably be dated about 12-44.
Hope this is some help, I am sure one of the experts will jump in here shortly.

I've got an In #2938889 with 6-43 barrel. Barrel and receiver have similar coloration...aged slightly brownish.
Another In #2922472 has 10-43 which goes along with above list. Any ideas of 6-43 on later rcvr? Maybe just a barrel that was laying on bottom of pile.

Production of the 6.2 million range would place it in the fall of 1944. Oct. to early Nov. would be correct. hth

Okay, thanks very much. Glad I asked or I would have been looking for the wrong barrel.

My suggestion would be to use a 9-44, 10-44, or an undated Inland barrel in that serial number range.
