Use of Lyman Alaskan B-series on M1D in Korea
My M1D has a Lyman B-serie's scope the barrel is dated 1-53. It is a CMP papered D model. I have heard the the M84 scope was not used in the Korean war and it was delayed with production problems till the war was over. What have you heard about that time frame? Thanks, jeep

The Lyman was indeed used in Korea, lots of photos of it. The B-series is documented to a 1951 purchase and the Lyman ads for 1952 say "During most of 1951, every Alaskan produced was for the Armed Forces"
Real men measure once and cut.

Thanks for the info Bob. I have heard that 1000,s of Lyman's were ordered and that the first 1,500 M1D,s were with lyman scopes. I think the Lyman is a better scope than the M84. More rugged and better made. If the M84,s were delayed till after the war in only makes sense that D,s and C,s used Lyman,s as fast as they could make them.
