Newbie Question on M1916 Holster
Hello All,
I'm seeking help in identifying a holster.
I just purchased a M1916 holster, tan leather and rather old. It has a brass wire hanger on the back but no identifying marks anywhere except for "US" within an oval on the flap. It was obtained from a WWII veteran, (Army Air Corps pilot). I've searched extensively online and found that all these holsters have maker's marks and dates for both WWI and II, but this one has neither. Any ideas?
Thanks

Brass hanger suggests WWI to me. Still, that's not 100%. The best thing would be to post photos of the front, back, flap open, inside and a close up just below the hanger (to make sure the marking isn't extremely faint and/or worn - sometimes photos show what eyes don't see) to the forum and let the experts chime in. At least they will be able to verify it is USGI and not a repro. That in itself would be information.
