P 53 Snider Conversion Musket
At an auction there was a .58 cal rifle that nobody would bid on. Also there was a reserve.
I was going to test the water by bidding but I did not know what it was. I recognized the snider conversion and also the stock looked familiar like my Parker Hale Enfield. I never put the two things together!
No markings at all on the rifle and the auction had it listed as a trap door rifle!
Had bad did I do through my ignorance about that rifle? I may still have a chance at it if I call the auction house.
The rifle was pretty clean, action worked, but barrel had most of the rifling gone. Ram rod in place.

Depends on what it was and how much they were asking. No markings and most of the rifling gone makes me think of the Egyptian Police smoothbores, which go begging on the auction sites at $350-$400. It may also have been one of the Nepal-made Sniders. Was the gun a three-band, two-band or did it have a carbine-type stock with a full-length metal rod-holder under the barrel?

I remember it being a three band with a ram rod.

Yes. However, scrubbed of all markings and no brass anything. Hefty price for IMA!
