Ebay does stink in a lot of ways, and the ebay organization is the biggest problem. I've been hustled several times in the past several months. I've come out with less damage than I could've, but some sellers (and buyers) are just not honest.

Matteo, I asked about those slings some time ago and the consensus is that they are the real deal.

A used barrel assembly auctioned a few months ago on ebay which had no type III marks and with the same sight and early band. It went for $505 I believe.

So if you take that $2436 and then add about another $1200 at today's prices for the bbl, receiver, all other parts, and if you don't have the parts - then with a long hunt to get 'em all to match and lots of time, you'd end up with a correct M1A1 for $3,636. It's a tough call, we all see what these go for nowadays. If lucky you might find an original one for this price, a bit more too, or if even luckier less...and even if you think it's original, it could be a put together. So the buyer gets an all correct one, for $3636 and then it's not original but then at least he has one, a decent one. So in his mind he's got what he wants and paid a little bit more for it. He might fare even better, he might have all the parts in possession right now & can build the thing for much 'cheaper'...........it's really hard to tell where the buyer's mind is at...and who knows maybe it's S-T-B and then we see it back on GB
