That is a solid representation of a WWII carbine right there. Literally unmolested sans the trigger housing and stock which may very well have been mixed up during a cleaning party. Where has that poor ol' girl been residing? Clean her up and you have a very cool carbine. Thanks very much for sharing with us and welcome to milsurps.com .

The barrel band is a Type I or Type IA (depending on the inner size of the swivel).
Found on WRA's with 2 usually barely visible weld spots.
Seeing your serial #, this type band was near its last use.
Wra started using the Type II (wider) band near your serial #.
Hard to make out your stock markings.
They do not look like any type of post war rebuild/Armory stampings...... The carbine shows no sign of ever being in a rebuild program.
Possible they might be a Units markings, but I'm guessing.
Any markings inside the left slingwell?
Or marking in front or under the pistol grip?

BTW, Your Barrel Band is real.
Stock stamped SA is a Springfield.
Long barrel channel: 4.15" long.
Known or often called a Potbelly or M2 stock.
Nice stocks for shooting.
Hand guard might be a M-U, Thought to be Marlin made for Underwood.
Best I can do right now.
I've done something and my screen is out of whack, with pictures and letters scrambled.

Something happened to my screen, all mixed up and out of whack.

Those faint letters on the stock may have been a base or depot inventory/ID marking.
Pictured here is one with painted number:
Interesting M1 carbine pic
Still just a guess though.....
Should look better when cleaned, it deserves it.
