Thats Saginaw sub-contract BTW
Thanks again
IIRC,those serial numbers were assembled earlier in the year.Around May 1943, so I would guess a 4 or 5 /43 barrel date would be correct.
Loren
Sorry Loren but it's about November 1943 for that serial number. The tests done in August 1943 had Inlands in the 550,000 range. The barrel is most likely an original to the receiver.
Sorry Bruce but Loren is correct about the date(s).
A few Inland/SG ser. #'s and original barrel dates.
739XXX 5-43
734XXX 4-43
723XXX 5-43
724XXX 5-43
708XXX 3-43
711XXX 4-43
726XXX 4-43
A few inland ser. #'s and original barrel dates
336XXX 4-43
372XXX 4-43
307XXX 4-43
425XXX 5-43
432XXX 5-43
433XXX 5-43
Scott
I have 719xxx and it has a 4-43 barrel date.
Wow that means Inland was making carbine serial numbers out of sequence if the testing was done in August with serial numbers in the 550,000 range. My mistake Loren.
What it means is Inland was using receivers from their subcontractor as they came in along with receivers they made themselves.
Just came back from CMP today, found 3 rifles in that range, one had IBM
and 2 of them had 4-43.. Thanks for the Help
