Cracked Stock

I am looking at a 1941 Lithgow with a crack in stock propagating from the butt plate forward. It is about 3 inches long. I assume it is Coachwood , cannot really tell because the finish is so dark at this time. I'm wondering if this is reparable if I remove the brass plate, glue it and clamp it. If so , what kind of glue would you use?
Where can you purchase new replacement stock sets if it cannot be fixed?

Yes it's repairable, but there's more to it then just glueing. Plan old Elmers wood glue will do it. Use the forum search function there are numerous threads on the subject. If all else fails here's a parts supplier.

I'd almost go along with War Pigs suggestion Mr Kurtz but tell us whereabouts down the butt the bloody crack is! If it's outside of the butt plate screws, you could glue it. If it's inboard of the screws then best to cut-out and patch as has been done by a million Armourers since time immemorial. If it's in the centre of thge butt, along the line of the stock bolt recess, don't bother. It's beyond help
