Very very nice rifle
I think the F on the handguard is probably an E that didn't get stamped evenly (just my guess).

I applied two thinned coats of Chestnut Ridge military stock stain. Then three coats of BLO "brushed" on with 0000 steel wool. Two more coats rubbed in by hand followed by an application of Culver's Paste.

The stock is a Model of 1917. There is no volley sight plate present as found on the pattern 14 stocks.
