    New Rifle Markings?

Just recently bought an 1917 Eddystone rifle. Looked bad on the table but cleaned up nicely. All metal has requisite E in most places. Wood looks good but well used. My question is there numerous markings on the rifle as follows

On Left side flat 1" beneath rear sight "W" with serifs
In front of triggerguard is a 7 E and above that is a C with an eaglehead above.
Behind trigger guard is a 1 H (w/ serifs) above an eagle head.
Pistol grip has no "P" circled or plain.

    Toe of stock has 26

Tip of stock looks like F and T/P
Serial number is 7797xx Barrel date 6-18
What if anything do these markings tell you guys?

    W Winchester
    E Eddystone
    the F is likely a E
the numbers are likely subenspectors marks.
eagles head marks on the stock are correct for an Eddystone stock.
pick up a copy of Nick Ferris,s book on 1917,s money well spent.
your rifle is a normal 1917 that like most have been worked on, rebuild, ect, during its service, then sold as surplus.
