East German CE44 98k.
Picked this one up yesterday..a Sauer CE44 98k that went to the East Germans post war. I thought this was an RC at first, due to the 'purple' extractor, and the electropencilled safety knob, but there is no 'X' anywhere on it. Sports a Czech VZ24 style front sight protector, and has been renumbered by the EGs, so it is 'matching'. Barrel has the crown over N marks, 1001 marking, and 'MdI' in a box. Barrel is numbered different from everything else, and am guessing that it was rebarreled by the EGs. Bore is pristine. Buttstock has three Weimar eagles, waffenampts are WaA63. Looks to be an early walnut stock not original to the rifle, but is numbered to the receiver, certainly done post war. Nazi eagles are peened, and it actually looks as though they tried to peen the gothic style 'MOD98'. This is my first East German 98k, glad to have found it! Enjoy the pics.

NVA weapons are nice to have! I have 2 or 3 98ks, a G 43 and an equal nr of pistols and holsters.
