.303 Bolt problem
I think I must be going crazy or maybe im just having an insane moment, but I own 2 303's. One in .303 and one a 303/22 cadet rifle. I have had the .303 for a couple of years and the 303/22 a month or so. I have never had any trouble with either until I removed the bolts so the rifles could be used by school kids (with my supervision) to make a short movie on Gallipoli. I guess the bolts were out of the guns for about a week and now when I try and put them back in they wont go. The bolts slide beautifully but I cant close the bolts! Its like the ejector of the bolt head is stopping it. I first noticed it as I put the bolt back in the 303/22 and the bolt would just not close, so I gave up and went to put the other bolt in and the same thing. Whats going on?? am I just having a blonde moment or have I inadvertently done something?
Cheers

Is the bolt head tightened against the bolt body ie it hasn't unturned one rotation as that would stop you from closing the bolt.

Yep all that is fine, its as you close the bolt like closing a round in the chamber. The bolt will just not close, as I said its like the ejector is stopping it from closing instead of moving to the side.
Well, I guess I won the golden goose award of the month!! WRONG BOLTS IN THE WRONG GUN!! Doh.

Dont understand thread 5. Are you now saying (para 2) that you have now solved the problem? IF not, it's a process of elimination first. Take the bolthead OFF the bolt and now try to close the bolt. If it closes, it is a bolthead problem. Simple

Yep that's right Peter, Im an idiot. I had the wrong bolts in the wrong rifle. Well I guess a lesson learned as I would of felt a right burke had I gone away with the wrong bolt.
