I have two soft covered books which I purchased from the Police Musem in New Zealandicon. The first book covers handguns used by the police from 1840 to 1990. The second, carbines for the same period.

Very interesting, with regard to the handguns, mostly british were used, although, Browning's were avaible and Smith and Wesson's also. The most interesting one in the book is a four barrel, .30 rimfire calibre, breech loading pocket pistol from Sharps, c.1863!

The book about carbines inculdes the Lee Enfield Carbine , theThompson and the Lanchester, Sten and Stirling sub machine guns..

I belive that you can order these books from the publisher,

ISBN Numbers are 0 908873 01 8 for "Carbines and Police in New Zealand" and 0 908873 00 X for "Handguns and Police in New Zealand"
