Hi Guys,
New guy here. I just wanted to check out the approx value of my bayonet.
History on this is....about 7 years ago I had an employee that needed rent money (or looking back now I think could have been drug money) and knew I was into guns and knives. He offered me a couple of guns and a bayonet.
All of these items used to be his grandfathers. All of them fairly old.
Anyhow, just bought a large safe and was moving some items into it and came across it again and I started doing some research.
Im not intererested in selling but was curious.
I know the WT is one of the rarest and thats about all I can find.
Im thinking that this one was one of the ones that used to be the 16" and was contracted to be "retooled" by the military to be a 10". It has the narrow round fuller, spear shaped tip with UFH marked on the upper back of the tang. It is marked 1942 on the blade and has nice crisp markings. The blade is in pretty good condition with some sharpening but not excessive.
it has the original fiberglass olive drab sheath with the black bakelite handles.
You can tell its seen some service but it is in decent shape.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.
Eric
