Correct Smith Corona?
Hi guys,
Sorry for the stupid question but I'm new to 03A3's, I was looking at a S.C. 03A3 that is for sale and the guy selling it claims it's correct for a Smith Corona.
It has a S.C. barrel, receiver and bolt body but I counted 7 parts that are marked "R". The question is it correct for a S.C. rifle to have Remington parts?

Not correct. I'll bet the stock is wrong and you just don't know it, either. Comes down to price. What is the asking price?

Ouch! Top dollar! No, no, no. Understand me? If it were 100% correct and near mint, maybe. But no to this one.

well,
any nice A3 will fetch 750.00 today, iv been watching A3 prices over the last few years go up.
they dont have the history of an 03, but most guys like them for the easy sights, {old eyeballs}.
so,
a nice original SC may very well bring 850.00 to 1000.00, a ars, rebuild with a mix of parts will fetch 650.00 to 750.00 depending on over all finish, ect.
Remingtons are more common, but will still bring close to the same money if nice.
are they worth it??? well they are worth what ever they will bring on the market.
after all, they dont make em anymore, right?

I agree with Chuck -- prices of decent (but not original) M1903A3s have been edging up over the last 2-3 years. I would be more concerned that it is being sold as "original". No R-marked parts should be present. The trigger guard is another area of concern for me. It should have a raised ridge of metal curved around the forward tang screw; if the ridge is "squared, it is also a Remington part.

Chuck knows what he is talking about. But at $750.00 starting what will you pay to get it "correct"? I think I would pass unless you can figure out your total costs. Good luck on this one.

Mike, if you're willing to wait a few months for delivery you could have a lot of fun with a $500 03A3 from CMP. Best deal around.
